Pop Culture Kryptonite

My pop culture weakness would have to be the television drama Cops. During my childhood my father always kept Cops on while he was writing checks or reading the newspaper. Since I had nothing better to do I would stare at the show for a few hours until my parents made me turn it off. This lasted from the time I was about 5 until I was 8 years old and it made my family think I wanted to be a police officer when I grew up. Truthfully I never wanted to do anything in law enforcement even due to my Cops addition. In my younger days I didn't understand the majority of the things happening and to me it was just people yelling "Get on the ground!" a lot. Very recently, since about mid August, I have picked up my addiction again. My friends think I'm nuts because as soon as I turn on a TV I start hunting for my favorite show. It doesn't matter if the Super Bowl is on at the same time, if Cops is on then we're watching Cops. Now that I'm older and understand what is happening I enjoy the show even more. I have expanded my tastes into different crime dramas such a CSI and Law & Order: SVU.
